How Much Does a Wedding Videographer in Italy Cost? 2027 Guide
The cost of a wedding videographer in Italy depends on five things: how many filmmakers you book, how many hours they stay, which films you receive, whether they also cover the days around the wedding, and how far they travel. Two quotes with the same total can hide two very different jobs, so the real question is not only how much, but what you get for it.
We are José y Danielle Films, a wedding videography studio based in Italy. This guide explains how pricing works here, from the inside.

What decides the cost of a wedding videographer in Italy
One filmmaker or two. This is the biggest difference between packages. One filmmaker can tell your story well on a small or simple day. Two filmmakers can be in two places at once: one with the bride and one with the groom while you get ready, or one on your faces and one on your guests during the vows.
Hours of coverage. Italian weddings run long. Dinner often starts late and the party can go past midnight, so an 8-hour day may end before the cake. A 12-hour day usually covers everything from getting ready to the first dances.
The films you receive. Most studios deliver a mix of formats: a feature film of around 15 minutes, a shorter highlights film of around 5 minutes, and a one-minute reel for social media. Some also add the speeches in full, a version that many couples end up watching more than the edited film. More formats mean more editing hours, and editing is where most of the work happens.
Days around the wedding. Many destination weddings in Italy last two or three days: a welcome party, a rehearsal dinner, a pool party the day after. Filming these is usually priced as an extra.
Travel and accommodation. If your videographer lives far from your venue, travel and hotel nights are added to the quote. Ask whether they are included or calculated separately.
VAT. In Italy, VAT on services is 22%. Some quotes include it, others add it at the end. Always check before you compare two totals.
| What changes the price | Why it matters | What to ask |
|---|---|---|
| Number of filmmakers | Two points of view, two places at once | Who exactly will film our wedding? |
| Hours of coverage | Italian weddings often end after midnight | Until what time do you stay? |
| Films delivered | More formats, more editing hours | How long is each film, and what is in it? |
| Extra days | Welcome party, rehearsal dinner | Can you film the day before or after? |
| Delivery time | Express delivery takes priority in the edit | When will we receive each film? |
| Travel | Distance from the venue | Is travel included or separate? |
| VAT | It can change the total by more than a fifth | Is VAT included in this price? |
What a wedding film package in Italy should include
Beyond the number of minutes, these are the things that protect your film. They rarely appear in the headline of a quote, so ask about them.
Good audio. Your vows and speeches are the part you will listen to for years. We record with 32-bit float microphones, which keep voices clean even when someone laughs, cries or speaks too close to the mic.
Backups and a plan B. Every file we shoot is stored in three copies before we leave the venue, and a backup videographer is on standby in case one of us cannot be there. Ask any videographer what happens if a card fails or someone gets sick.
A second filmmaker as a safety net. Every wedding is unique, and so are the surprises, and we have seen many. With two of us, one can film your vows while the other catches your mother’s face as she cries, a moment that never happens twice. One films your entrance while the other sets the microphones, so the speeches are recorded clean. And if a camera ever stopped working, which has never happened to us but is always possible with electronics, the second filmmaker would still be rolling and the moment would not be lost.
Aerial footage where it is allowed. Drone shots show where you got married, but not every venue or town allows them. A good videographer checks the local rules first.
Planning before the day. We schedule a final call 30 to 60 days before the wedding, with you or your planner, to go through timings and technical details. It is the step that saves the most moments on the day.
A clear delivery. Your films should arrive in a gallery you can share with family abroad, with a clear delivery time written in the contract. Ours is four to six months, with an express option of about 40 days.
Extras worth knowing about
These are not essential, but they change the price, so it helps to know they exist before you ask for quotes.
- Engagement or save-the-date film. A short film shot before the wedding, often used to announce a destination celebration to guests.
- Social media creator. A dedicated person filming vertical, behind-the-scenes clips on the day, with reels delivered within a day or two.
- Raw footage. All the footage from the day, converted into a format you can actually open and watch.
- Elopement coverage. A different kind of day, usually priced on its own.
The most common mistake when comparing videographer quotes
The most common mistake we see is comparing quotes as if they described the same thing at different prices. “A 15-minute film” or “full-day coverage” can mean very different jobs.
Who will actually film your wedding day? How many hours go into the edit? How are the vows recorded? What happens if something goes wrong? Two quotes can use the same words and answer these questions in completely different ways.
Our advice: before you look at the total, ask to see a full film, not just the trailer. A trailer shows the best 60 seconds. A full film shows the style, the pace and the care in the details, which is what you will actually receive.
Then have a conversation with the videographer, ideally on a video call. If you feel at ease with them, you will be more natural in front of the camera, and it will show in your film.
How to compare wedding videographer quotes in Italy, step by step
- Watch at least one full wedding film from each videographer, not only the highlights.
- Ask who will film your day, and whether it is one or two people.
- Check the hours of coverage against your real timeline, including the party.
- List the films you receive and the length of each one.
- Ask how vows and speeches are recorded.
- Ask what happens if something goes wrong: backups, illness, equipment failure.
- Check delivery times, and whether they are written in the contract.
- Check what is not included: travel, accommodation, VAT, extra days.
- Book a video call and notice how you feel talking to them.
FAQ
Does the price of an Italian wedding videographer include VAT?
Not always. VAT on services in Italy is 22%, and some videographers quote without it. Before comparing two quotes, ask whether VAT is included, so you compare totals on the same basis. Our prices always include VAT.
Are travel costs included in the quote?
It depends on the videographer and on the distance to your venue. Many studios list travel and accommodation separately, calculated once the location is known. Ask for them in writing at the quote stage, so the final total does not change later.
Is a second videographer worth the extra cost?
For most weddings with more than a few dozen guests, yes. A second filmmaker can cover both of you while you get ready and film your faces and your guests’ reactions at the same time during the vows. For an elopement or a very small day, one is often enough.
How long does it take to receive a wedding film in Italy?
It varies by studio, usually from a few weeks to several months, because editing takes many hours. Our standard delivery is four to six months, with an express option of about 40 days. Social media reels can arrive within one to three days.
Can we get the raw footage?
Many videographers offer it as an extra, because the files must be converted into a format you can actually open and play. Ask whether it is available and what it includes before you book, rather than after the wedding.
Do we need a videographer if we already have a photographer?
Photos and film tell different parts of the day. A film keeps your voices, your vows and the speeches, which no photo can hold.
